The Wines of France Dinner: November 8th, 2019

Owen Kotler from Owen Kotler Selections will host an evening of French Wine showcasing Achillée, a small organic and biodynamic producer from Alsace. The Dietrich family has been growing grapes since 1999 and producing expressive and honest wines that represent the terroir of their limestone and rocky vineyards. The minerality of the wines give them excellent structure that balances the fruit and the acidity. Their wines are extremely food friendly and Chefs Ryan and Tim are looking forward to pairing them with the flavors of the fall harvest.

Achillée, is French for yarrow. The ancients believed that yarrow was a divine gift from the heavens bestowed upon humanity so that we could communicate with Heaven. Yarrow is a nutrient accumulator.  Its deep roots mine the subsoil for potassium, phosphorus, and copper, making it a nutrient-rich mulch.  Because of its ability to fertilize, it is often used to increase fruit production.  Their winery is built in the largest straw building in Europe.
