Coho Restaurant Wine ListThe picks this month feature wines, vineyards or producers that at one time were on our list but fell off due to limited availability. We are happy to welcome back these old friends.

Winderlea Wines – a boutique producer of primarily single vineyard pinot noirs and a lovely Chardonnay. While they are a new producer on our list, many of the vineyards where they source their fruit including Shea Vineyard are old friends. Shea vineyard produces wines typified by deeply concentrated flavors with notes of black fruit. The wines have a solid backbone that will hold up for cellaring.

Winderlea Shea Vineyard Pinot Noir, Oregon, 2010 $48

Winderlea Ana (Dundee  AVA) Pinot Noir, Oregon, 2010 $48 a lighter style pinot with blackberry jam, charred hickory and dried cranberries. It has a brighter acidity than the Shea vineyards.

Winderlea Chardonnay, Oregon, 2010 $36 The winemaker, Robert Brittan worked at Stags Leap Vineyards and you can taste similarities in this nicely balanced wine. Floral notes of roses end with a pleasant citrusy finish. This is an elegantly and richly crafted wine with just a kiss of oak.

Abeja, means ‘bee’ in Spanish. The winery celebrates the bees that pollinate their vineyards. Their Chardonnay has been a staple on our list and now it is quite sought after since their recent accolades on Robert Parker’s Top 100 list. We still have inventory as we await this year’s fall release.

Cabernet Sauvignon, Columbia Valley, Washington, 2009 $35 This Cabernet is stylish, elegant, and impeccably balanced aged in French oak.

Domaine Serene is another old friend. We have had their Pinot Noir on our list for several years and are pleased to add their Syrah.

Domaine Serene Rockblock ‘SoNo’ Syrah, Walla Walla, OR, NV $35 This wine is rich with blueberries, plums and finishes with rustic tannins and a smooth, smokey lingering finish.
