WM McCauley Gallery is the newest art gallery in Friday Harbor, specializing in fine art produced by San Juan Islands artists.
For artists, the the beauty and serenity of the islands serve as both inspiration and an optimal environment for developing new work, and gallery owners Mack and Wendy McCauley have assembled an impressive assortment of work from amongst their favorite San Juan Islands artists.
Focusing on mostly 2-d and mixed media works from very well established and respected artists, they introduce their featured artists through a series of monthly shows. While all their artists are inspired in one way or another by the islands, many WM McCauley Gallery artists do not produce only “tourist fare”. Wendy and Mack are proud to be able to provide a venue in which friends, neighbors, and visitors will have the opportunity to appreciate the outstanding work, of all styles, being produced within this unique community.
About the Owners
San Juan Islands native Wendy Buffum McCauley has spent the last 20 years developing her career as a painter on Lopez Island, collaborating with many great local artists. She has drawn deeply on these local island connections to develop the gallery’s initial community of artists.
Mack McCauley grew up in the warehouse of his parents Ethan Allen furniture gallery. Family vacations were punctuated by stops at furniture stores, antique shops, and art galleries. That early influence resulted in a life-long appreciation of, and focus on design.
Combining this background with an aptitude for technology, he developed a successful career in software design and management, culminating in a ten year stint as a General Manager at Microsoft in the 1990’s. For the past few years, he has run a small web development business in Friday Harbor. Mack brings his aptitude for design, business, and technology to the gallery to ensure that the gears will always run smoothly.
The gallery is located in the heart of Friday Harbor just above the main ferry loading lot, at 232 A Street #6, just beyond the whale tail sculpture.
Visiting hours are 11 am – 6 pm Wednesday through Saturday, 12 pm – 4 pm Sunday.
