Spire Collection Educational Seminar & Wine Dinner, October 19, 2018

Please join us for lively evening of wines hosted by San Juan Island native, Travis Morrissey, manager of the Spire Collection of Wines. The wines of the Spire Collection express the unparalleled terroir from some of the finest vineyards around the world. This is a truly impressive portfolio featuring wines from Oregon to Bordeaux, California to Tuscany. The wineries in the collection are committed to honoring tradition in wine making, integrity in the vineyards and, ultimately, quality in the glass. We’ll travel the world exploring our neighbors to the south, tasting 5 wines paired with Chef Tim’s fall harvest dishes. The dinner will feature the following wines:

Gran Moraine Rose, Oregon
Capensis Chardonnay, South Africa
Zena Crown Pinot Noir, Oregon
Arcanum Il Fauno Toscana IGT, Italy
Hickinbotham Shiraz, Australia

The evening will start off with an educational seminar focusing on the Willamette Valley, Oregon and the Pacific Northwest wine industry. We’ll taste a flight of Pinot Noirs from the acclaimed Zena Crown Vineyard that sourcesgrapes from three different historic vineyards from Eola-Amity Hills. Each vineyard has a different type of soil and we’ll see first hand how the vineyard and terroir effect the wine in the hands of the same winemaker. We will also taste an old world style chardonnay from Oregon. The seminar will feature the following wines:

Zena Crown “Conifer” – marine sedimentary soil
Zena Crown “Sum” – whole cluster fermentation
Zena Crown “Slope” – volcanic soil
Gran Moraine Chardonnay – old world style

Chef Tim will prepare some tasty nibbles to enjoy during the seminar portion of the evening. The pre-dinner seminar is $25 and begins at 5:00. Those that attend the seminar will receive a $25 credit toward the purchase of 5 bottles of wines. These evenings are always memorable and sell out. Dinner is $55/person and $50 for the optional wine pairing. There is one seating for dinner at 6 p.m.
