How To Brew Perfect Iced Tea

With higher temperatures just around the corner, we like to have iced tea on hand, whether it’s for a refreshing afternoon break or a pre-dinner iced tea cocktail.

The simplest way to brew one gallon of iced tea is to use one of the new gallon-size jumbo tea bags. Take one bag and place it inside your favorite 6-cup teapot. Add boiling water, sugar if desired, and steep exactly five minutes. Remove the bag and pour the hot liquid into a large gallon-size pitcher filled with ice. The flash chilling will help preserve the flavor and scent of the tea.   If you prefer to brew by the cup, place one teaspoon of tea for every cup into a press. Add sugar if desired, and then boiling water. Brew exactly five minutes, then press the plunger down and pout the hot liquid into a container completely filled with ice – the rule of thumb is to use a container that is twice the size of the tea press. With this method you can easily brew a single serving or enough for friends. You can also mix teas and create your own “signature” iced tea – the possibilities are endless.
