2. The Wines of Mexico Dining Event

Join Patrick Neri and Lisa Strandberg, owners of Beso Imports, as we explore the wines of the Valle de Guadalupe. Tucked away in the mountains of Mexico’s northern Baja region, these wines are one of the best kept secrets in the world of wine. Taste the wines from small boutique estates that are reshaping the way the world thinks of Mexican wine. Patrick BesoBeso Imports is the first to bring these wines into Washington and they have put together an impressive portfolio composed exclusively of Mexican wines they hand selected themselves from many trips to the region. The paired dinner will focus on a number of the wines from their collection.

This will be a memorable evening as we showcase five wines, the best of the best, paired with the local bounty of the surrounding San Juan islands. Enjoy great food, friends, and learn about these remarkable wines. Chefs Ryan and Tim will create a seasonal dinner perfectly paired to the wine.

There will be one seating at 6 p.m. $55 food and $35 wine. Reservations are definitely recommended.

 

3. Orcas Island Farm Tours

4. Friday Harbor Fall Farm Parade

Free; The Grange is nonpartisan, and so is this event.  All are welcome, including kids! The Grange strives to support a resilient community of growers, makers and keepers, to foster social and political engagement, and to maintain our Hall as a home for celebrations and programs.

 San Juan Island Grange is proud to present the ninth annual parade of farm trucks, tractors, horses, marchers, and goats-on-leash. Parade staging will start at the San Juan County Fairgrounds at 1:30 pm. At 2:30 pm the parade will leave the Fairgrounds, travel down Argyle Avenue, continue on Spring Street, turn left on First Street, and end at the Grange Hall. A Fall Harvest Celebration at the Grange Hall will be held following the parade.

6. The Wines of Italy Dining Event

Join us for an evening of Italian food and wine at Coho Restaurant with Steve Gautier, the Northwest Regional Manager of the August Wine Group and Small Vineyards Importer. Coho Restaurant has been proud to shAugust Wine Groupowcase the wines of the Small Vineyards portfolio for the past ten years. These are wines made by small family producers. Every bottle of Small Vineyards wine bears our gold seal, signifying that the wine is hand-harvested, earth-friendly, and from a family-owned estate. By importing wines from small estates, we are helping to protect unique grape varietals, local wine-making styles, and preserve a special way of life.

Chef Ryan and Tim will create a Mediterranean-inspired menu paired with five of their food-friendly wines. There is one seating at 6 p.m. The five course dinner is $55/person and the optional wine pairing is $25/person.

 

7. San Juan Brewing Co. Oktoberfest Celebration

Join us for our third annual all-day Oktoberfest celebration, which will include a special German-themed food menu, live music, costume contests, liter holding contests, games and activities for all ages.

Plus- we can’t forget the beer! San Juan Island Brewing features up to 13 different styles of traditional ales and lagers all handcrafted in house. We will have our Festbier on super special all day. PROST!

8. Madrone Cellars Winemaker Dinner

Inspired by French Champagne, Bordeaux reds and the dry white wines of Alsace, Shaun and Amy Salamida are striving to bring a taste of Europe to the San Juan Islands. Their wines are made with minimal intervention, with a goal of revealing the grape, terroir and story behind each glass. Shaun SalamidaShaun has a keen interest in natural, unfiltered wines, with the goal of planting and farming an organic and bio-dynamic vineyard on San Juan Island. Shaun and Amy manage an estate vineyard on San Juan Island, where they organically farm the Pinot Noir, Ortega and Siegerrebe. These local grapes are used solely for Method Champenoise that will be released Summer 2020. Apart from the local estate vineyard, Madrone sources their grapes from select vineyards in Eastern Washington.

Join us for a celebration of Savor the San Juan with this local winemaker.  Chefs Ryan and Tim will prepare a locally sourced and inspired dinner using seasonal ingredients from local farms and those from the mainland. A five course dinner is $55/person and the optional wine pairing is $30. We are looking forward to a memorable evening of local food, wine and fun.

 

9. The Wines of France Dining Event

Owen Kotler from Owen Kotler Selections will host an evening of French Wine showcasing Achillée, a small organic and biodynamic producer from Alsace. The Dietrich family has been growing grapes since 1999 and producing expressive and honest wines that represent the terroir of their limestone and rocky vineyards. The minerality of the wines give them excellent structure that balances the fruit and the acidity.

Their wines are extremely food friendly and Chefs Ryan and Tim are looking forward to pairing them with the flavors of the fall harvest.

10. Hops on the Rock: Orcas Island Beer Fest

Eastsound Village, Prune Alley, Eastsound, WA 98250
November 9th, 11:00am-4:00pm

Taste your favorite microbrews, explore new ones, and hobnob with brew folk at the Orcas Island Beer Fest. More than a dozen small artisan breweries from around the Northwest will tap their kegs under a heated tent on Prune Alley (so named for the historic fruit orchards that used to stand on this site) in the heart of the charming village of Eastsound on Orcas Island. There will be tasty local food to catch all that delicious beer and live music to sip too.

The Hops on the Rock festival is literally shutting down the streets of Eastsound to host a weekend of drinking, dancing and NovemBEER events all across  Orcas Island. Live music, local food, and 20+ local breweries from around the region will be in attendance for a destination beer festival like no other. Breweries attending will include Aslan, Georgetown & Black Raven Brewing – among others – who will be showcasing their talents alongside local chefs and the sounds of Bellingham’s hometown heroes, Babycakes.

This is 21 and over event.

    • My apologies for only just seeing your comment today! The next wine dinner at Coho Restaurant–an evening of French Wine showcasing Achillée, a small organic and biodynamic producer from Alsace–will be held at on Nov. 8 and the menu will be finalized this week. Meanwhile, the menus for our special Thanksgiving, Christmas, and New Year’s Dinners are all online now. We hope to see you soon!
